Since 2000 the Sacagawea dollar coin for general population was minted in Denver and Philadelphia. From 2002 onward the coin was mainly minted for a niche circulation as the coin was not accepted by consumers and businesses. After 2012 it was minted only for coin collectors.
Profile of Sacagawea and her child was designed by Glenna Goodacre.
These coins are copper core clad by manganese brass giving them their golden color. The coin is marketed as "Native American series dollars".
