1959 Lincoln Memorial Cent Coins, Vintage Collectible Set

$1.59

Lincoln Memorial, one each of 1959 & 1959 D cent coins, Random Selection, collectible, vintage coins, patina varies, circulated condition. This design was created to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s birthday.

Nice find for a new collector- with the shortage of cents. The L of liberty is on the edge of the rim or on rim.
Minted at Philadelphia or Denver by the US Mint. Composition is 95% copper & 5% tin and zinc.

Design Change: The year 1959 marked the first time the U.S. Mint featured the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse (back) of the penny, a design by Frank Gasparro. The obverse (front) maintained the portrait by Victor David Brenner.

Mintage: Over 600 million were produced in Philadelphia (no mint mark) and over 1.2 billion in Denver ('D' mint mark) for general circulation, making most examples very common.

Average:

Didn't mind paying the amount I paid for the pennies, and they were exactly as described. My only issue was the amount charged for shipping, which in all honesty was my mistake for not looking closer at the details. Seems excessive to charge someone $5.45 for two pennies, which have a total face value of $0.02 cents. I could understand if they were rare pennies worth more than the face value, but they're not. I would have thought Etsy had something similar to eBay's Standard Envelope which has tracking as well as shipping protection of $20-$50 for lesser priced items and only costs $1.03 for 2oz item or $1.32 for 3oz item, etc... Perhaps this is something Etsy should look into? Again, not blaming the seller!! The fault lies with me for not looking closer or reaching out to the seller first.
