As a piece of history, this metal tube (made in USA) held a sewing kit which included this thimble (made in Spain). It was given out as advertising for Pinkham Medicine.

Lydia Pinkham (1873-1906) created a her vegetable compound, a herbal treatment for women’s ills. She was a pioneer for women in medicine and medical treatment for females.

In 1968 Pinkham Medicine was sold to Cooper Labs in California.
